Cartridge filters are one excellent way to reduce the quantities of organic debris in pool water.  Check out the photo below where we are changing out old filters for new ones. You can see the difference.  Cartridge filters utilize water to rise them free of organic debris.  The benefit of this type of filter is low water waste.  Instead of backwashing water all over the yard, a simple rise with a garden hose is enough to clean them adequately.
